You have the chance for a new beginning at MTM.
At our methadone maintenance clinics, many options will be opened for you. After you begin treatment and adjust to taking a daily medication you will set your own goal. Many patients find that methadone treatment brings them a fully functioning and rewarding life. Counseling provided at our methadone treatment facilities is used by patients to deal with problems and stress that could cause them to relapse into drug abuse.
Gradual Dose Reduction
You may find yourself motivated to discontinue methadone. “Weaning off” (gradually discontinuing methadone) is usually done over a long period of time to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Every person’s weaning-off schedule in an opiate treatment program is different. Your counselor and the MTM medical staff can help you through this process and carefully monitor your progress. Abruptly stopping methadone maintenance is dangerous. It can cause severe withdrawal symptoms and often leads patients back to illicit drug use. A completed methadone treatment for opiate addiction has been shown to provide real results and recovery.
Successful Completion of Treatment
Whether you continue in methadone maintenance or gradually wean off, MTM will consider you to be successful in your treatment when:
- You are living free from all illicit drug use and abuse.
- You have made real improvements in your relationships with family and friends.
- You function better as a parent, worker, or caregiver.
- You are involved in other constructive activities, such as support groups, social activities, recreation, and hobbies.
